As we have determined, there is no absolute Thanksgiving tradition, as much of what we’ve always heard about the first one is myth, including where and when it was, who was there, and what was on the menu. That’s okay, though, because that’s pretty much the case with every holiday.
Besides, we all like to add personal touches to everything, anyway. We begin with the basic ingredient, which, in this case, is turkey, and build around it. We may put someone else’s cool ideas into the mix, but we garnish everything with our own spices, keeping what works, and changing what doesn’t, until we’ve created our own family traditions.
In fact, that’s a good way to describe CedarStore.com. We’re a family business that started in 1992, as The Cedar Store, with one good, solid ingredient (three guesses). At our small retail establishment, here in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, we hand-crafted Western Red Cedar into beautiful, decay-resistant patio chairs, picnic tables, porch swings, chaise lounges, garden benches, accent tables, and many other pieces of outdoor furniture.
Now celebrating ten years online, our products number in the thousands, and are also made from pine, oak, cherry, teak, cypress, aluminum, thermo-plastic coated steel, vinyl, synthetic wicker, and polywood; and we’ve added gazebos, sheds, pool houses, cabanas, sunrooms, and other outdoor structures, to our line.
We have also launched GazeboCreations.com, AllPicnicTables.com, TeakDesigns.com, and DesignerBridges.com; and we’ve had a lot of time to figure out what works, and what doesn’t, and to make changes accordingly. Consequently, our successful combination of state-of-the-art technology, cutting-edge innovations, and old-fashioned ideals, has given rise to many important traditions to which we will always adhere.
One of them is that we still have skilled wood artisans who continue to make much of our wood furniture by hand, and can customize almost any piece of it.
Another thing we deeply believe in is classic customer service. Really! When you call us, you will NOT have to navigate an automated system; you will get a real person, who will actually care about you, and the reason for your call; and you will be able to speak directly to anyone in our company, including the President. Furthermore, if you call after business hours, you’ll be able to obtain numbers that will put you in touch with someone who can help you.
This is a rare thing to find these days, but it’s important to us, because it’s important to our customers. We hope it’s something that they can be thankful for, because we’re certainly thankful for them.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Kathy
