Traditional? Who’s to Say?

Because CedarStore.com has tons of furniture that’s attractive enough to be used indoors, many people will, undoubtedly, be having their Thanksgiving feasts at our elegant outdoor dining tables. While this may not seem the traditional thing to do, remember that the first Thanksgiving dinner (well, at least, the one that’s touted as the first, in the autumn of 1621 – I don’t want to stir up any controversy) was certainly not an indoor meal. I’m also willing to bet that even our most rustic picnic tables would be considered chic, compared to the ones that were used then.
Furthermore, as we all know, there is very little of the holiday that we recognize today that remains faithful to the original one. Heck, there’s no solid evidence that turkey was even served. Besides, we all like to create our own traditions anyway. Actually, though, people have been using outdoor furniture at Thanksgiving for many years; but it’s usually set up for the kids, who often dine at folding tables, while sitting on picnic table benches, patio chairs, or even ottomans.
In any case, eating at an outdoor table is closer to the first Thanksgiving custom than using a formal indoor one. In fact, there are many people who use outdoor dining sets every year, mainly because they eat outside (it’s not cold everywhere in November).
So, when you think about it, tradition is really in the eye of the beholder (or something like that!). Everyone is different, and that’s the way it should be. That’s also one of the reasons why we offer such a diverse selection of outdoor furniture, in styles from classic to contemporary, made from wood, metal, and synthetic materials, and available in a rainbow of colors.
Moreover, it’s not just our dining sets that are ideal for indoor use. No-o! We also have a red cedar buffet, serving tables, shelves, silverware boxes, storage chests, quilt racks, hampers, and many more home accents.
As far as the children’s seating situation goes, well, that’s no problem, either. Our kids’ picnic tables are perfect for keeping those rambunctious rascals out of your hair – er, uh, I mean, for making the little angels happy!
Yours Outdoors,
Kathy
